ABRAFATI 2007

Forscher participated in the ABRAFATI for the first time and presented a large number of new products for the coatings and printing inks markets.
One of the most important launches was the TICO™ line from Heubach GmbH.
This line of pigments was specially developed to substitute products which contain lead and cadmium in their formulations, with excellent performance – having high grades in all fastness properties – and also with the best cost x benefits for such a substitution.
Our products allow a formulation of yellow colors of 15 to 30% cheaper than the ones formulated with bismuth vanadates or organic pigments.

In case of red colors, formulations with TICO™ provide cost savings of 40 to 60% when compared to already
 existent  alternatives.

Heubach’s pigment preparations (Heucosperse, Microsperse, Aquis, Heucotint, Monolite, Monastral, etc.) were also presented to the customers.

We also introduced thermochromic pigments and pigment preparations of the company Thermographic Measurements Ltd. for the production of special effect coatings and inks.
Such pigments allow, for example, paintings to change their colors due to temperature alterations and create interactive effects between the walls and the decoration of a room.

In our booth, we showed these effects and many others applied for a practical demonstration.

Amongst the most innovative products, we presented materials for authentication and brand protection provided by the company DatatraceDNA Technology Assessment. These materials can also be classified as “chemical barcodes”, consisting of a group of inert ceramic materials, which can be integrated in the composition of innumerous goods, including paints, printing inks, plastics, ceramics, papers, concrete, metals, glass, packaging, etc.
A special reading device is able to detect the presence of this marker and extract a large number of information, like for example: origin, manufacturing date, batch code, through whom the material was sold, if there is an adulteration on the original concentration, etc., a lot more than what traditional barcodes allow us to do.

Forscher hosted a lecture about this theme during the congress. It is an extremely important matter for companies suffering from piracy.

Other important product lines presented to the market were the Carbon Black preparations manufactured by Wolstenholme International Ltd, which are suitable for the following industries: coatings, printing inks, plastics, asphalt sealants and tinting of mulch.

These products have a high dispersion technology, providing a superior performance at competitive prices.

We also introduced the dispersion machines produced by the German company Ystral GmbH. Their high technology equipments allow the feeding of powder pigments through a vacuum generated by the equipment itself, resulting in an exceptionally clean working environment.
The dispersion process occurs during the feeding of the product and afterwards, during the product’s recirculation.
It reduces the dispersion time in up to 60%. Its installation is extremely simple, very similar to a centrifuge pump.

Other product lines presented: our pearlescent pigments, from Shanghai Pearl (China); fluorescent pigments, from Vicome (Taiwan); high performance organic pigments and many more.
