TDS Induction Mixer

TDS Inducton Mixer

When mixing powder into a liquid, you are familiar with the following problems

o        Dust
o        Contamination of the working area
o        Dirty powder transporting systems, those are difficult to clean
o        Detrimental to health
o        Exhaust systems and filters have to be installed
o        Loss of powder (during filling, in the filter of exhaust systems, remnants in the bags
o        Partial wetted crusts at the wall of the vessel and mixing shaft
o        Agglomerates in the product

These problems can be avoided by directly inducting the granulate or the powder into the liquid and immediately wet and disperse it when the product comes in contact with the liquid.
No vacuum vessels or additional vacuum pumps are required. The induction vacuum is directly created in a highly accelerated liquid stream. The vacuum fluidizes the powder and brings it finely distributed in contact with the liquid. Simultaneously to the wetting, the product is dispersed; no lumps and/or agglomerates can build up. Powdery materials may be inducted dust-free and without any loss of powder from any type of powder container.

The system that was used to realize this idea became known under the name TDS-system (Transport- and Dissolving System)

Information and function

o        The principle of a TDS induction mixer is based on the principle of a Jetstream mixer.
o        A fast rotating rotor is placed in a streamline-shaped stator. When circulating the liquid in the vessel, a vacuum is created in the centre of the rotor that is being used to induct a powder into the liquid (Venturi principle).
o        A special intake fitting is attached to the stator tube and connected to an induction hose with an attached induction pipe.
o        Through this pipe, hose and fitting, the powder is transported directly into the rotor-stator system and mixed and dispersed the moment it comes in contact with the liquid.
o        The combination of powder induction and mixing principle is very economical.
o        The Jetstream principle avoids any sedimentation in the tank and the content of the vessel is homogenized continuously.

Applications

o        Highly dispersed Silica acid
The handling of highly dispersed Silica acid, such as Aerosil, Cab-O-Sil, HDK, Gasosil or similar is an ideal task for the TDS machines.
The powder easily can be fluidized and is inducted into the liquid directly from a bag into the liquid. No dust is created during the induction. This results in a very short wetting and suspending time. The degree of dispersion of a TDS induction mixer is very high, additional dispersing with a shear ring system can be avoided. Suspensions that have to be stored for a long time and that need an intensive dispersing should be treated with the TDS-Dispermix or the Conti-TDS.

o        Filter aid (Diatomite earth)
Diatomite earth is a filtering aid that is being used for the filtration of drinks with a high concentration of solid particles
In powdery form, this powder is dangerous - when it comes into the respiration system, it might cause Silicosis or Silico-Tuberculosis. A dangerous concentration arises, when Diatomite earth is being added manually into a dosing system or into a suspension vessel. With the Ystral TDS-machines, the Diatomite earth is inducted directly from the bag into the liquid, where it is completely wetted and dispersed - no dust comes out of the surface of the liquid.

o        Activated carbon
Activated carbon is being used for filtering purposes as well as for water and waste water treatment plants. It is very dusty and often you face the problem of pollution of the environment and working areas due to a very high concentration of dust in the air.
Using a TDS system almost eliminates this problem.
